Thierry Struvay, a Belgian jeweller and antiques collector has lived the experience. “Because of my profession I frequently wear suits. I find it comfortable, but it’s also a way of respecting the clothing conventions, of adapting my dress to the requirements of the moment. It puts customers at ease. Previously I wore suits less often, preferring to choose the latest trends. But now my priorities have changed: clothing should fit perfectly and be comfortable to wear; clothing should serve me, not the other way round.

Wonderful experience

This was the first time I had a suit tailor-made for me. It was a wonderful experience: I chose my favourite material out of thousands of cloths, a speckled green woollen Donegal tweed. Then I chose the model, and decided on all the details. I opted for a lining in a different colour, open sleeve vents with genuine horn buttons that lie flat but touch one another (“kissing buttons”), trousers with button fly, a flap watch pocket, a buckle pin loop and a special inside pocket for my mobile phone. And to cap it all my initials were embroidered in contrasting thread on the inside pocket: pure luxury !

It was quite a ritual

Choosing the materials, the fitting sessions, ... The various stages make you think more about the details. It creates a certain anticipation, something that is getting rare in this fast-consumption society where you dive into a shop and quickly buy something without thinking about it too long.

World of difference

When they’re hanging side by side, a made-to-measure and a ready-to-wear suit look very similar. But when you put on a suit that has been specially tailored to fit you, you find there’s a world of difference. The craftsmanship that goes into it is comparable with the other craft sectors in which I work. It’s a magic feeling.”

The made-to-measure suits can be fashioned in more than 5000 fine fabrics in accordance with personal choice.

Feel at home

We offer the option of having a name embroidered on the inside pocket or of adding a GSM pouch and other details in keeping with the habits and tastes of the client. Briefly put, this is a coat in which a man can feel at home.
